Join Miguel Fraga of Quantum Engineering Consultants and Live Active El Paso, and get some great exercise by walking the Paso del Norte Playa Drain Trail from Vocational Park to Ascarate Park. The Paso del Norte Health Foundation partnered with the City of El Paso and El Paso Water in 2018 to design and build a 3.4-mile multi-use hike and bike trail from Ascarate Park to Riverside Park on the historic Playa Drain. Desiring a region where all residents have the opportunity to live healthy lives, the PdNHF and Paso del Norte Trail partners are working towards a county-wide trail system. The Playa Drain Trail is part of this vision.
You will begin at Vocational Park at the corner of Mimosa Ave. and Balsam Dr. (MAP) and walk to Ascarate Park. There is plenty of street parking at Vocational Park. Round trip is about 6-miles. If you don’t want to walk the total round-trip distance, then you may turn around at any time. A good turn-around point is Hidden Valley Park at Coconut Tree Ln. and Polo Inn Road. (MAP) Enjoy scenic views, birds and other animals and informative signage. There are drinking fountains and exercise stations along the way. Most of all, you will get some great exercise. Bring plenty of water and a snack and wear sunscreen. You may want to bring binoculars. Please bring a mask and social distance. For more information, please contact Miguel Fraga, miguel@qeceng.com.
