Baylor Canyon Trail Hike

Hike Baylor Canyon Trail with BLM Education and Outreach Director, Eileen Davis. See spectacular views including the igneous crags of the Organ Needles. The 2-miles hike has a bit of elevation change to the summit of Baylor Pass. Meet at the Aguirre Springs Campground which is located on the east side of Organ Mountains, east of Las Cruces in Dona Ana County. Take U.S. 70 for 14 miles east of the I-25/U.S. 70 interchange in Las Cruces, then turn south on the Aguirre Springs Road (1.1 miles after San Augustine Pass) for six miles. At mile 4 the road becomes a one-way loop and climbs steeply. Wear appropriate shoes and clothing and bring plenty of water. There is a $5 per vehicle Recreation Permit Fee for parking or use your Federal Lands Pass/local LCDO (Las Cruces District Office) pass.
