A Special June Event: Bat Watch

Celebration of Our Mountains is offering this special June event because now is the best time to view bats.

Walk to a nearby arroyo and watch bats emerge and take flight. Learn more about Texas bats from our Urban Biologist, Lois Balin. Meet at 3344 Eileen Dr. Wear sturdy footgear. For more information, contact Judy Ackerman, 915-755-7371 (home) or 703-622-0661 (cell), jpackerman53@gmail.com

The most common species in our region is the Brazilian free-tailed bat (Tadarida brasiliensis). Lois has a new bat detector so you may be able to identify other bat species.
