Enjoy a moderate 4- to 5-hour, 5-mile hike at the north end of the Franklin Mountains. Meet at the trailhead on NM 404, Anthony Gap Road. Directions: From 1-10 West, take Exit 162 (Anthony/Chaparral) NM 404. Drive east 4.2 miles. Turn right onto a dirt road. Go through green gate. Drive .2 mile to a flat parking area on the left. There is a $2 FMSP fee or use your Park Pass. Bring 3 liters of water, snacks, and sturdy hiking boots. This is dog friendly if your dog has been trained and socialized.
