Beginner’s Mountain Bike Ride

Go on a 5- to 6-miles, 2-hours easy to moderate mountain bike ride along some of the most popular paths on the east side of the Franklins. Visit the Bowen Round House Ranch site and take the Lazy Cow Trail. There are a few steep dips where the group will stop and discuss body positioning and technique. Everyone has the option to walk their bike down if they don’t feel comfortable riding these sections. Bring functional mountain bike, cycling helmet, drinking water and eye protection (sunglasses).  Flat repair materials (extra inner tube, plastic tire levers, handheld bicycle pump, etc.) are recommended. Also bring snacks, cycling gloves and shorts, sunscreen and a backpack or hydration pack (i.e. Camelbak). RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Please call 915-566-6441 Monday thru Friday from 8 to 4. Please cancel your reservation, if you decide not to attend. Minimum of 5 persons for tour to go. Meet at Chuck Heinrich Park. (From Hwy 54, take exit 31 toward Martin Luther King Jr/Kenworthy St. Turn north onto Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Take left at Jon Cunningham Blvd. which dead ends at the parking lot. $3 adults, $1 children or use Park Pass.
