July 4th | 9:00 Am | Star Spangled Hikes |

Celebrate the 4th of July on a Star-Spangled Hike at Hueco Tanks!

Join us this Fourth of July for a Star-Spangled Hike through Hueco Tanks. We will be offering three types of tours that cater to the abilities of everyone, including easy, moderate, and strenuous. Reservations are required and spots are limited to 10 people per moderate and strenuous hikes and 25 for the easy hike. Please call 915-857-1135 to make reservations. The cost is $9 per adult ages 13 and over and $2 per child ages 5 to 12. Please bring sturdy shoes, lots of water, snacks, sun protection, and your sense of adventure!

 

July 14th | 8:30 Am | Rare Plant Tour | Max group of 10

Join us on a tour of the plant life located in Hueco Tanks SP&HS. Check out the Comal Snakewood, a member of the Buckthorn family that can only be found here in Hueco Tanks and nowhere else in the U.S.A! Call (915) 857-1135 for reservations.


July 14th | 9 Am | Women’s Hike | Max group of 25

Join us for a woman hike at Hueco Tanks, explore the site with a female ranger or volunteer and learn more about best hiking practices in the Chihuahuan Desert. This tour is open to women with all levels of experience and offers breathtaking view of El Paso and the surrounding mountains. Hike will be limited to 25 participants. The cost is $9 per adult 13 and above and $2 per child ages 5-12. Please call for reservations as they will be required. To reserve please call (915) 857-1135

 

July 14th | 9 Am | Tai Chi on the Mountain | Max group of 15

Do you want to relieve stress? Join a Tai Chi instructor for a morning of exercise. Tai Chi has been shown to also increase balance, flexibility and strength, perfect for those hikes on the mountain. This tour is limited to 15 participants and reservations are required. The cost is $9 per adult. To reserve please call (915)857-1135

 

 July 13th 14th | 5:30Pm | Hueco Tanks Overnight Family Camp Out | Max group of 15 families

Interested in learning some camping skills? Bring the family out to Hueco Tanks for a weekend full of fun! We will be hosting an Overnight Family Campout filled with fun activities, games, and stories. Join park rangers & guest presenters to learn about life on the trail during the old cowboy days, sample some dutch oven cooking, listen to campfire stories, and roast marshmallows. You can even try your hand at some good ole fashioned archery. Come out and join us!
**Due to limited capacity, reservations for the campout are required. Reservations should be made by calling the Park at 915-857-1135 before July 12, 2018. Space limited to the first 15 families with a maximum of six people per family. Everyone should arrive no later than 6:30pm.

 

July 14th | 7:30 Am | Birding Tour | Max group of 10

Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site is visited by over 200+ different species of birds throughout the year and this is your chance to see some of them! Whether you are a birder or just curious how to tell one bird from the other, this tour is for you. Tour leave from the Park’s Interpretive Center at 7:30 a.m.  Things to bring: Water, binoculars, camera, bird guide / ID book, good hiking shoes, and enthusiasm! Tour is limited to 10 participants and reservations are required. The cost is $ 9 per adult 13 and above and $2 per child ages 5-12 To reserve a spot on the tour, please call (915) 857-1135

 

July 19th | 8:30 Pm | Hueco Tanks Stargazing Party | No Max Group

Join Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site staff a night of stargazing, stories, and planetary viewing. Visitors are welcome to bring their own binoculars and telescopes, but it is not required. There will be no reservations for these events. Groups will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and we will cap visitation at 100 people. Gates close promptly at 8:00p.m., no exceptions. Cost is $9 per adult ages 13 and over and $2 per child ages 5-12. Please make sure to bring weather appropriate clothing, water, snacks, and blankets and chairs if so desired.

 

July 26th |9:00 Am | Jr. Ranger Day: Build Your Own Desert Habitat|
 Join a Hueco Tanks Ranger to learn about Chihuahuan Desert habitats and build your own! Join us at Hueco Tanks to learn about how animals use their surroundings to survive and thrive in our dry desert climate.  Participants will have the opportunity to use plants and other materials to build habitats for a variety of desert creatures. All materials will be provided.  The cost is $9 per adult 13 and above and $2 per child ages 5-12. Reservations are required. Call 915-857-1135 to learn more.
