2018 Franklin Mountain State Park Events
For more information, RSVP to 915-566-6441 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Entry fee is $5. You can also purchase a Texas State Park Pass at 1331 McKelligon Canyon Road (Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM) or at Tom Mays on Saturday or Sunday. The fee is $70.00 for the one-holder pass or $95.00 for the two-holder pass. If you have any questions or need additional information please contact 915-566-6441.
August 4th at 6:00 am - Peak Fitness Hike
Test yourself against some of the most difficult hikes in the Franklin Mountains State Park. Reservations required; for additional information and to reserve your spot, call the office at (915) 566-6441.
August 5th at 7:00 am – W. Cottonwood Springs Hike
Come explore the beautiful Chihuahua desert on a guided hike with one of our park rangers or volunteers. This is a moderately difficult 2 mile hike and is excellent for families and geology and wildlife enthusiasts. We will meet at the W. Cottonwood Springs trail head in the Tom Mays Unit. August 11th at 8:30 pm – Star Party
Join the Franklin Mountains Park Rangers and the Sun City Astronomers for an evening of night sky fun! Meet us at the scenic overlook in the Tom Mays unit of Franklin Mountains to enjoy an evening of star gazing. We won't draw the line at stars though! We hope to get a good look at some of our neighbor planets also. July marks Mars’ closest approach to Earth in 15 years, so it is a good time for planet gazing! See you there!
August 18th at 7:30 am – Women’s Hike
Come explore the beautiful Chihuahuan Desert with other women, led by a female ranger or volunteer. Learn about best hiking practices and the unique desert ecosystems. This hike is open to women of all experience levels who are excited to spend more quality time outdoors. August 19th at 7:00 am - Tin Mine Hike
Join us for a hike out to the El Paso Tin Mines, the remains of a mining operation that operated in the early 1900s. We will meet in the parking lot of Chuck Heinrich Park. Reservations required; to reserve your spot, call the office at (915) 566-6441.
August 26th at 8:00 pm - Full Moon Hike
