What: Join us for an evening of music in the mountains and at your state park Event Location: Franklin Mountains State Park, El Paso, TX Meeting point: Tom Mays Unit - From Westside on I-10, take exit 6 & travel east towards Mountains for 3.8 miles, Park entrance will be on the left. From Eastside on Hwy 54, exit Transmountain Rd, travel west 7 miles over/thru the mountains, Park entrance will be on the right. Hike length: 2.5 hours Level of difficulty: 0-None Cost: $2.00 Leader: Adrianna Weickhardt, 915-566-6441, adrianna.weickhardt@tpwd.state.tx.us Reservations required? The Franklin Mountains State Park is offering Melodies Under the Milky Way on Saturday, November 17, 2012.  It is a reservation only event, so please call the park head quarters between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at (915) 566-6441 to make your reservation.  Event cost is $2.00; however, Texas State Parks Pass holders receive free entrance (as in all Texas State Parks). Event is Weather permitting.

Melodies Under the Milky Way – Tom Mays Unit

·        Start/End Time:  4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

·        Location:  Tom Mays Unit – Site 39

·        Activities:  Family Friendly Event – Join us for an evening of music in the mountains and your state park.  A musician from Las Cruces will be providing the entertainment and melodies as the sun sets and a blanket of stars rolls out across the sky.  After the concert, enjoy presentations and activities about the Sun and Moon as well as the effects of light pollution on our vanishing “dark skies”.  Bring a flashlight, water and a jacket.  Optional:  a blanket and comfy chair (seating will be provided).

     Payment:  Correct Cash or Check (booth will be closed)
